As Teacher Appreciation Week approaches, why not make it unforgettable by infusing the energy and inspiration of Taylor Swift into the celebration for all of your school’s staff?
Taylor Swift’s music is a really fun concept to play with that can elevate a regular staff appreciation event into one that’s super memorable and leaves a lasting impression.
So without further, ado, here’s an entire week of Taylor Swift-inspired teacher appreciation week ideas!
First, get the staff excited and ask if they’re “…Ready for It?” by giving them a sneak peek of what’s to come with a full work week of scheduled of events, brilliantly choreographed by you, the PTO Staff Appreciation “Mastermind.”
Monday: “Begin Again”
Kick off the week with a “Begin Again” theme, encouraging teachers, Swifts or not, to embrace new beginnings and the fresh start that each new school week brings.
Decorate the teachers’ lounge with pastel colors and Spring motifs inspired by the “Lover” album aesthetic.
This balloon arch kit is giving major “Lover” vibes.
Pastel floral-esqe poofs? Yes, please!
Streamers are a flexible and inexpensive decoration that work well in any space.
Lean more heavily into the “Lover” theme with a heart garland.
Once the decorations are set, time to plan out the day’s event!
Offer a breakfast buffet featuring Swift’s favorite foods, such as cinnamon rolls and “Holy Ground” coffees, to start the day on a high note.
“Bad Blood” pancakes and a “Speak Now” pastry assortment are nice additions to a breakfast buffet to start the school day.
As are cups of yogurt, as a nod to “Invisible String.”
This post has all the details on organizing an appreciation breakfast, including menu and set up suggestions, so check it out for even more ideas.
Further incorporate the Taylor Swift theme by getting some pretty purple plates and tableware to use for the breakfast buffet.
Protect and cover the tables where the buffet will be set up with some disposable tablecloths.
Purple tablecloths are a great color choice since it’s one Taylor references in many different Eras, from “Lover” to “Midnights.”
Sprinkle some Taylor Swift stickers on the tables in the teacher’s lounge for some fun, oversized confetti that the staff can take with them at the end of the week as one final treat.
Don’t have the volunteer base to pull off a breakfast?
Order up (300) take out coffees, using this customizable coffee order form.
Or purchase bottled coffee treats, each labeled with a cute coffee-themed tag, for the staff to grab and go.
Tuesday: “You Belong With Me”
Dedicate this day to showing teachers “It’s Nice to Have a Friend” and how much they are valued, as well as how much you and your PTO recognizes their contributions to the school community.
Leave a “Dear Reader” “Message in a Bottle” in each staff member’s mailbox to thank them for their hard work and dedication to the school.
These gold foil Thank You note cards are also quite “Lover”-y in their light and air pastel color scheme.
Bring the notes to the PTO meeting before Staff Appreciation Week and get students involved too, handwriting notes of thanks, and sharing what they learned from all those years.
Along with the personalized note, why not slip a custom friendship bracelet, maybe even featuring your school’s colors, into their mailbox?
You can also reinforce the idea that they belong and that the teachers are part of the school team by gifting some custom spirit wear to each staff members, administrator and teacher.
Don’t have the funds for this?
Get the whole school in on the act by getting your Principal to sign off on a school-wide spirit wear day and ask students to join in on the fun too.
Wednesday: “Shake It Off” – Stress Relief Day
Midweek is a great time for teachers to acknowledge that they need to calm down, so stress relief and relaxation is the name of the appreciation game today!
Set up an essential oil diffuser to set the mood in the room.
And have a nice supply of relaxation focused essential oils on hand to keep the chill mood going all day.
Bring in a massage therapist for chair massages – the 10 minute version, of course that they’ll love “All Too Well”.
Provide stress-relief kits containing items like “Lavender Haze” scented candles, stress balls, and herbal tea, all optionally branded with Swift-inspired designs and quotes.
Gift everyone a cute pouch filled with items to further their relaxation after the school day is done.
Help them avoid death by a thousand (paper) cuts by gifting each staff member a tube of hand moisturizer.
Chocolate is another thing that can help them “Breathe” and these rose color kisses are just the thing since school can often feel like a garden filled with thorns.
Ensure their next kiss isn’t their “Last Kiss” with some EOS lip balm.
Another idea for a mid-week shake off is to set up a milkshake bar.
You’ll need straws, of course.
Be sure to encourage staff to leave some “Blank Space” for some cherries to top off their snack!
Make your life easier by having the staff pre-order their milkshake and snack using this customizable room service order form.
Thursday:
Set up a “I Forgot You Existed” popcorn bar.
Make sure to have lots of popcorn bags on hands because staff will be coming back for seconds!
Offer a host of topping choices, both savory and sweet to suit all tastes. This multi pack of popcorn toppers is a great option.
It’s never a bad idea to offer some mix ins for your popcorn bar and serve them in wide top bowls.
Small candies like mini M&Ms and the like are yummy additions.
Small scoops keep fingers out of the serving bowls.
Friday: “End Game” – Luncheon
Let’s make the end of the week the best day ever since they’re never said “you’re on Your Own Kid” with a fabulous luncheon!
Make sure you have enough food to satisfy your whole crowd by consulting this post.
Here are some menu suggestions based on the week’s theme:
- Mozzarella sticks or string cheese (“Invisible String”)
- Sweet Tea (“Seven”)
- OIive Garden inspired Italian lunch (“no body, no crime”)
- “Welcome to New York” style thin pizza
- “Seven” layer dip- go greek or Mexican, depending on what else you’re serving
- Sub sandwiches (“Death by a Thousand (Cold) Cuts”)
Be sure to add food labels into the luncheon spread.
This’ll not only let you easily identify gluten free, vegan and Kosher options for your guests, but also leaves space for punny food names like All You Had to Do is Satay and Soon You’ll Get Feta.
Bonus Ideas
Throughout the week, encourage participation and unity by incorporating interactive elements like a Taylor Swift trivia contest, or a “Look What You Made Me Learn” bulletin board showcasing new things students have learned.
Mad Libs, Taylor Swift Edition, is classic game, good for all ages, that the teachers and staff will enjoy playing throughout the week.
Leave a few copies in the staff lounge along with some glittery pens!
