As the school year draws to a close, it’s time to express gratitude to those who have worked tirelessly to make it a success.
Among these unsung heroes is your Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) President, whose dedication and leadership have undoubtedly made a significant impact on the school community.
Finding the perfect thank you gift for this individual can be a wonderful gesture to show appreciation for their hard work and commitment.
How much to spend?
Before we dive into the fabulous gift ideas, let’s address a common question about how much is appropriate to spend on an end of the year thank you gift for the PTO President.
And the answer is that it really depends on the finances of your group.
That’s not a cop out, but rather a nod towards the fact that all PTOs, no matter their name, operate a bit differently and are in varying financial situations.
If you have a more established school parent group, then you’ll likely be more stable financially and can budget accordingly.
A good ballpark number is anything up to about $50 or so.
The PTO President didn’t sign up for the job for the gift and really wants the PTO’s money to be going back to the school community and not them.
But it’s still nice to thank the PTO President at the end of the year and especially at the end of their term for their tireless commitment to the PTO, so a gift of some sort is totally appropriate.
Ok, now to the gift ideas!
Gift Ideas for PTO Presidents
Here are a bunch of thoughtful gift ideas to consider:
Picture Frame
Commemorate their tenure as PTO President with a photo frame, perhaps engraved with their name and a heartfelt message of thanks.
Include a picture of them in action at an event as an extra lovely touch.
It’s a timeless keepsake that they can cherish for years to come.
You can also skip the personalization and opt for just a gorgeous frame like this one from Rifle Paper.
Spa Day or Wellness Package
Treat your PTO President to a bit of relaxation and self-care with a gift cards towards a spa day or wellness package.
After months of hard work, they deserve some pampering to unwind and recharge.
You can also put together a small bundle of products for an at-home spa day too!
A package of shower steamers will give a daily opportunity for a bit of pampering
And a weighted eye pillow is just the thing after a long day and is sure to gets lots of use.
A body butter is something that PTO Presidents will have more time in the off season to indulge in, and this line by Astura (Venus Williams is a part owner) is a really fabulous option to give them.
Customized Gift Basket
Create a customized gift basket filled with their favorite goodies, such as gourmet chocolates, coffee, teas, or snacks.
This sample of Republic of Tea is a nice gift option.
Add a personal touch by including items that reflect their interests and hobbies.
Donation in Their Name
Make a donation to a cause or organization that is meaningful to your PTO President, whether it’s a local charity, educational program, or community initiative.
It’s a thoughtful way to honor their dedication to making a difference.
A Planner Just for Presidents
I’d really be missing the boat if I failed to include the President’s Success Kit as a gift suggestion.
This is of course appropriate for Presidents wrapping up their first year and no someone finishing up their term entirely.
This resource kit will really set up the President for the remainder of their term oh so fabulously.
Print out a copy of the happy striped pages, set up the binder for them and then pass along the digital version so they can print extra pages as needed!
They will love having all of the fabulous resources right at their fingertips and will appreciate having the tried and true advice and guidance to make their volunteer job easier.
Handwritten Thank You Notes
Rally fellow PTO members and school teachers and staff to write heartfelt thank you notes expressing their appreciation for all the hard work and dedication of the PTO President.
Compile the notes into a scrapbook or decorative box for a meaningful keepsake.
Jewelry or Accessories
Treat your PTO President to a piece of personalized jewelry or accessories, such as a necklace, bracelet, or watch, engraved with their initials or a meaningful icon message. It’s a stylish reminder of their invaluable contributions to the school community.
My go to gift for outgoing PTO Presidents for years has been an Alex and Ani bracelet.
They have enough designs to find something that is meaningful for the recipient and the bracelets come in either gold or silver.
Pro tip: Stalk the PTO President’s Facebook page and look at pictures of them to see which metal color they prefer.
Plant or Garden Center Gift Card
If your outgoing PTO President enjoys growing plants, a small potted plant or gift card to a local garden center is a thoughtful gift that they’re sure to enjoy.
A terrarium is a low maintenance plant that is nearly impossible to kill since no watering is necessary.
A sunny window is just about all that’s needed!
Pampering Gifts
A gift that adds a little touch of pampering to your PTO President’s day is something they’re sure to love!
The scent from this Savannah Bee Company kit is to die for, especially for lavender lovers, and appropriate for all, whether they’re a gardener or not!
Astra’s Mist Your Mood spray is another way to inject some self care into any daily routine.
Add to their Wardrobe
Commemorate the end of their term as PTO President with a cute t-shirt.
Funny Tokens of Appreciation
Another route to go for a gift for the PTO President is some this a little lighter, with a humorous nod.
Like this Off Duty Pop Socket.
A PTO centered travel mug is a nice reminder of the “true” PTO President’s job description.
As is this keychain!
And for a mid-term gift for the PTO President who’s shining, this journal is another thoughtful token of appreciation.
Over to you!
No matter which gift you choose, the most important thing is to express your gratitude sincerely and from the heart.
A thoughtful token of appreciation can go a long way in acknowledging the dedication and efforts of your PTO President in making the school year a success.
And perhaps I should’ve titled this post “All the Gifts Christina Would Really Love” because I seriously added so many of my personal favorites here!
But as a PTO President, I do know a little something about what I personally would love to receive, so there’s that…
Know that whatever you pick out to give to the PTO President, they will love it because you took the time to choose it!
